There are many different sorts of media in the United Kingdom: radio, television, newspapers, journals and websites. The media in the UK is entirely managing itself, and no specific legal rules are controlling the media. (“Media and creative industries – GOV.UK,” 2019)
Recent years have seen the continuous decay of television as the only most popularly used source of news, to the point that by 2016 it has been passed by online sources (There were 63 million internet users in the UK by late 2017, nearly 95% of the population). The range of published newspapers has decreased quickly at the same time, and social media has become much more critical (Nielsen, 2018).

BBC, the world’s oldest national broadcasting organization in the UK, is funded by a license fee, which all households with a TV set must pay. Therefore, this channel should not show the bias and should commitment to objectivity in presenting the subjects to viewers. However, this channel received many criticisms when it came to the issue of exit from the European Union. Therefore, a group of MPs and peers, who believe the corporation is biased in favor of remainders, made an official complaint against the BBC. (Waterson, 2019).
As an external observer, I think it is difficult for the media to put the topics objectively. This bias in the presentation of the themes appears clearly in popular papers such as The Sun and Daily Mail that rely on the images and the short story to present the events. This approach in the presentation of the themes has influenced British newspapers; a recent study shows that people in the European Union do not trust in popular papers published by the United Kingdom. (“Survey finds that UK written press is (by some way) the least trusted in Europe – Press Gazette,” 2017).
